How to Mend a Seam - Seam Repair Tutorial

Mend a Ripped Seam

A ripped seam is an easy fix.

Mending a seam is so quick and easy that it should never be a reason for tossing out your clothes. A seam will rip under stress, but that doesn’t mean that the fabric is damaged. All you need to do is replace the thread. Follow these easy steps to suture your style.

    What you will need:
  • Scissors
  • Medium sized sewing needle
  • Thread – The thread should closely match the thread previously used in the seam
  • Straight pins
  • Iron and Ironing Board
  • (Optional) Fusion Tape – For a quick, no-sew repair
  • (Optional) Liquid seam sealer
  • (Optional)Seam ripper – Handy if you make mistakes

Gather your supplies, and you're ready to inspect the damaged seam.
