Our necklace will be 14" long, so cut 96" of twine. How do we get this measurement? Your necklace will be made of two short strands that two longer strands will wrap around. Each of these short strands should be 16". We added 2" to the original 14" to allow for tying off. 16" + 16" = 32". The strands that will wrap around these need to be twice as long, or 64". The long strands plus the short strands works out to be: 64" + 32" = 96".
Use these instructions for the larks head knot to measure, cut and attach your project to a key ring. This is important because you will want to be able to pull the twine tightly to make your knots strong.
Once your twine is cut and secured, you are ready to start knotting.
