Love or hate them, bras serve a routine purpose in many wardrobes. Wireless bras are a practical and comfortable solution for shoppers of any chest size. Good ones provide the lift, support, and coverage you need without the discomfort of an underwire pinching at your ribs all day.
“The main benefit of choosing a wireless bra is comfort," says Cosabella Vice President of Finance and Planning, Silvia Campello. "Since they do not have wires in the cups, they can feel much less binding and constricting than underwire bras. [Wireless bras] offer that free feeling of being supported and covered, but not squeezed."
Wireless options come in different styles and fabrics, and with various levels of padding to suit your needs, depending on your breast size and intended use. Ditching the underwire can still be daunting, especially for those with larger breasts who want proper support and lifting. For more support, Campello recommends looking for features including “a hook and eye back closure, vertical support seaming, more coverage cups, longer bands, power mesh lining, and adjustable straps.” If you’re seeking optimal comfort, Campello suggests trying out bra options in softer fabrics, like microfiber (polyester, nylon, and/or spandex) and modals or cotton.
We put dozens to the test at home over two weeks to find the best options. Testers with various body types and chest sizes evaluated the bras based on fit, support, comfort, adjustability, and quality, and ahead, we’re sharing our findings with you.
Best Overall
Wacoal Comfort First Wire Free T-Shirt Bra
Surprisingly supportive
Feels soft and comfortable against skin
Provides full coverage
Adjustable straps and hook and eye closure
Maintains shape after washing and wearing it
Size range could be more extensive
Put simply: we were so impressed with this bra over the course of our test. It’s everything we want a wireless bra to be. We found that it was surprisingly supportive (even for those with large chests), and it felt soft and comfortable to wear for long periods of time—one of our testers even wore it on a 16-hour flight and said it was perfect for that. The band is incredibly smooth and we appreciate that it has adjustable straps and a hook and eye closure in the back. It provides full coverage which is great for people with bigger busts or those who prefer not to show much cleavage, and we like that the design is simple and layers nicely under clothing. Though not quite as supportive as an underwire bra by nature, we were pretty much blown away by how comfortable it is given the amount of support that it does provide. If you’re looking for a comfortable wireless bra that offers great support, this is the one for you.

Best Budget
Simply Perfect by Warner's Super Soft Wirefree Bra
Comfortable band and straps
Provides full coverage
Has adjustable straps and hook and eye closure
Fabric is soft
Affordable and accessible
Size range could be better
Could offer a bit more support
This bra available at Target is a fantastic option if you’re looking for something affordable and accessible. The simple design features full-coverage cups, adjustable straps, and a hook and eye closure in the back. The band is a bit wider than the average bra, meaning that it helps to smooth the back and sides of the body. Though we tested more supportive options than this one, we were impressed with the medium level of support it provided, especially given how soft and comfortable the garment is. It’s also worth noting that the straps are adjustable in the front which could be helpful for someone with limited mobility. The cups are seamless and lightly padded, so they provide total nipple coverage without adding too much bulk to the breasts. All-in-all, we’re big fans of this budget-friendly option.

Best for Large Cup Sizes
Knix WingWoman Contour Bra
Extremely supportive
Molded cups offer nipple coverage and support
Wide band
Has adjustable straps and hook and eye closure
Material feels high-quality
Could offer more coverage in the cups to better keep breasts in place in the cups
Sizing is confusing
Cups add a bit of excess bulk to already large breasts
Finding a wireless bra that offers sufficient support for people with large breasts is challenging, and while this one isn’t perfect (we’ve yet to find one that is), it did really impress us. For one, it’s very supportive in terms of keeping the breasts lifted. It also offers effective smoothing and it holds the back and sides of the body nicely thanks to the extra wide band. But because the cups provide demi coverage instead of full coverage, we found that the breasts tended to slip out in the middle and expose a ton of cleavage. While we certainly wish that the cups offered more coverage at the neckline (they do offer excellent side coverage), considering that they keep the breasts lifted nicely, we still think they’re effective for large chests. It’s also worth noting that the molded cups are excellent for smoothing and providing nipple coverage, but they do create some excess bulk.
We appreciate that it has adjustable straps, a hook and eye closure, and the fact that it comes in a wide range of sizes and colors. The sizing is a bit confusing, so be sure to take a good look at the size guide on the brand’s website, but the range is super impressive which is what matters most. If you’re looking for a high-quality, supportive, wireless bra that was thoughtfully designed for large chests, this is one we absolutely recommend checking out.

Best for Small Cup Sizes
Pepper Limitless Wirefree Scoop Bra
Has removable padding
Suitable for a wide range of activities
Comfortable
Thick band offers support
Fabric is breathable
Has adjustable straps and hook and eye closure
Cups could offer more coverage
Not the most durable option
If you have small breasts, then chances are you don’t need tons of support—you might just need light support and some shaping, and this bra provides just that. It comes with removable padding, making it versatile depending on your preferences or what clothing you’ll be wearing it under, and we also appreciate that it has as adjustable straps and hook and eye closure in the back. The band is wide and contains elastic which keeps it in place and offers support, and the design also features mesh which makes the garment feel breathable.
We found that it was supportive enough and comfortable for a wide range of activities, everything from lounging on the couch to hiking, which was really impressive. We did note a bit of spillage due to the lower neckline of the cups, but it wasn’t so severe that it was a dealbreaker for us. We did also notice some fairly significant wear and tear after washing it a few times (think pilling and metal discoloration), which was disappointing considering the price tag. However, it did hold its shape well. Overall, if you have small breasts and you’re looking for a comfortable wireless bra that offers a bit of support and shaping with some customization, this is a great option to consider.

Best Full Coverage
Soma Embraceable Full Coverage Wireless Bra
Extremely supportive
Keeps breasts lifted and secured in place
Looks great under clothing
Doesn’t create excess bulk on large breasts
Has adjustable straps and hook and eye closure
Size range could be better for small chests
Could provide better nipple coverage
If you’re looking for a wireless bra that offers excellent coverage so you don’t have to worry about spilling out or showing a ton of cleavage, this one might be just what you’re looking for. It has all of the features we want in a wireless bra—like adjustable straps, a hook and eye closure, and a wide band for support—and we were really impressed by how comfortable it felt for all-day wear. The cups are unlined which is great for people who don’t want to add any extra bulk to their chests, but they’re somehow still really supportive and comfortable, even for people with very large breasts. To our surprise, it did an excellent job at keeping low-hanging breasts lifted and secured in place without making them look too lifted or unnaturally shaped. Due to the cups being unlined, it’s not the best option if you want total nipple coverage, but it does provide a bit more coverage than your average unlined bra. We were really impressed by the design and how it wore, making it one we absolutely recommend if you’re looking for a full coverage option.

Best Supportive
Honeylove CrossOver Bra
Offers excellent support and structure
Support mimics that of a wire bra
Has adjustable straps and hook and eye closure
Band is wide and smoothing
Comes with removable cups
Material feels soft and comfortable
Sizing isn’t ideal
Sides of the band come up high and can cause some chafing
If support is the number one asset you’re looking for in a wireless bra, this is the one we recommend for you. It pretty much offers the same level of support as a regular bra with wire does, and we loved how well it kept the breasts lifted and secured in place. It comes with removable cups—but really good ones that are well-fitting and don’t shift around or create awkward lines like a lot of cups in bathing suits and sports bras do. These removable cups provide a bit of customizability in terms of the look, fit, and level of support you want, in combination with adjustable straps and the hook and eye closure in the back. The material feels soft and comfortable against the body, and we appreciate that the band is wide for support. However, beware that the sides of the band do come up pretty high, and this caused some chafing for one tester.
Although the bra comes in a decent size range, it doesn’t go by band and cup sizes which caused us to struggle a bit to get the perfect fit. We recommend trying it on in-store or paying close attention to the size guide online to ensure you get the correct fit. While we have minor qualms with it, we absolutely love how supportive this wireless bra is, making it one we recommend for anyone who needs full support.

Best Push-Up
Aerie Sunnie Wireless Push Up Bra
Very comfortable
Has adjustable straps and hook and eye closure
Great for being comfortable yet supported during daily activities
Runs true to size
Offers great support
Design is simple and smooth
Could provide better coverage to prevent spillage
Push-up bras aren’t exactly known for comfort, but this style is one of the most comfortable wireless bras we tested. The simple and smooth design is so soft and smooth against the body (no need to worry about weird seams or scratchy fabrics), and we love that the padding the in cups is totally seamless. It features adjustable straps and 4 sets of hook and eye closures in the back for adjustability, and we found the sizing to be totally accurate. We were thrilled with how supportive this bra felt during our test—it kept the breasts lifted and shaped without looking overly bulky or unnaturally high up.
While some of us did experience a bit of spillage due to the relatively low-cut neckline of this bra, others had no issue with it, so we think it’s definitely worth going in-store to try it out. But if you’re looking for a relatively affordable wireless bra that provides excellent lift and support all while remaining pleasant to wear, we think this is a great option.
Fabric: 66% recycled nylon, 34% spandex | Size Range: 30A–40D | Color Options: True Black, Glacier Gray
Best Comfortable
Chantelle C Magnifique Wirefree Bra
Provides excellent support
Has adjustable straps and hook and eye closure
Full-coverage cups
Great for shape and structure
Layers nicely underneath clothing
Totally comfortable to wear all day
Material feels soft and silky against the body
Could provide better nipple coverage
Although we were so pleased by how comfortable all of the winners on this were during testing, this bra took came out on top in terms of comfort—so much so that some of us forgot we were wearing it at the end of the night. While comfort is often associated with a lack of support in the bra universe, that’s far from the case with this wireless option. It has lightly lined cups that offer full coverage, adjustable straps and a hook and eye closure in the back, and a wide band with comfortable boning on the sides for structure. Despite being a soft material and not having molded cups or underwire, it kept even very large breasts lifted and secured in place. The lightly lined cups didn’t offer total nipple coverage, but considering how supportive and pleasant it was to wear, this didn’t bother us all too much. We also appreciated that it looked almost totally seamless under different types of clothing. If you’ve been on the hunt for a supportive and truly comfortable bra that you put on and forget about for the day, we don’t think you’ll be disappointed in this one.

Best Color Options
Skims Fits Everybody Scoop Bralette
Very comfortable
Great for lounging
Sizing is inclusive
Has adjustable straps
Provides decent support and structure
Could be more supportive for large busts
Doesn’t have a hook and eye closure for adjustability
Elastic band at the bottom doesn’t stay in place
Skims are known for creating simple and functional basics, and this is a really popular one that we like. Though it isn’t perfect (we don’t think it’s the most ideal option for people with large busts), we do appreciate how comfortable it is and how easy it is to lounge in or throw on for casual activities. The soft fabric feels smooth against the body, and we like the simple neckline and adjustable straps. Despite being a very simple design without many common support features like wire, boning, or a hook and eye closure, we did find that it offers light to medium support. We also absolutely love how inclusive the size range is and the fact that it comes in tons of neutral shades to complement a large variety of skin tones.
If you have a small or medium chest, we think this could be a great wireless bra for you. However, we did find that the length of the bra from the neckline to the bottom was very short which made for a lack of support and some slippage for those with larger breasts. We also didn’t like that the elastic band at the bottom of the bra kept folding under—perhaps if it was a bit wider it would offer more support and stay in place better. If you’re looking for a simple wireless bra that’s comfortable and comes in an extensive shade range, this one is worth checking out.

Final Verdict
Our favorite wireless bra is the Wacoal Comfort First Wire Free T-Shirt Bra. It’s incredibly supportive, comfortable, and high-quality, and we love that it’s adjustable and offers full coverage. We think it’s a great option for people with various bust sizes. But if you’re in the market for a comfortable wireless bra that will give your bust a real lift, we recommend the Aerie Real Sunnie Wireless Push Up Bra.

What to Look for in a Wireless Bra
Adjustability
Features such as adjustable straps and hook-and-eye back closures allow you to custom tailor the proportions for a more exact fit (and make the bra feel more structured and less like a sports bra). These attributes can also prolong your bra’s lifespan if you purchase an undergarment. Unlike a pullover bralette style, a well-fitting bra that sits comfortably on the loosest hook will still fit properly as it stretches with wear. The Wacoal Comfort First Wire Free T-Shirt Bra, our best overall pick, has both adjustable straps and a hook and eye closure.
Material
Wireless bras come in various materials, depending on your needs. Cotton and modal (a type of microfiber) are the best choices for individuals who are looking for comfort, softness, and breathability. They are great options for those with sensitive skin and any stitches or scar tissue. Synthetic materials, like nylon (also called polyamide), polyester, and spandex (also called elastane) are great moisture-wicking options to help eliminate sweat. These fabrics are better at holding their shape for support, tend to be more durable and seamless under clothing, and provide some stretch and a more lightweight feel. Lace is another supportive material that adds a luxurious element to your undergarment selection.
Jené Luciani Sena, the author of The Bra Book, says that if you have larger breasts, looking for a bra with a high concentration of spandex is ideal because it adds structure and support.
Support
According to Campello, some important features to look for when shopping for a supportive wireless bra or bralette include: hook and eye back closures, vertical support seaming, higher coverage cups, a v-front front (or triangle cups), longer bands (longline styles), power mesh lining, and wide adjustable straps. If you’re seeking some lift from a wire-free bra, look for options with more highly padded cups. If support is your top concern, we recommend trying the Honeylove CrossOver Bra.
Sena adds that the band is a critical feature of a wireless bra. “The band is important as that is 90 percent of a bra’s support,” she explains. “I personally like a bit of a wider band when it’s wireless to accommodate for the lack of wire and to help it stay flush on the ribcage so it doesn’t ride up under the boobs.”
Comfort
Wireless bras, by design, are inherently less constrictive because they do not have an underwire that can dig into your ribs, but comfort encompasses several attributes. Finding the correct size and style for your breast shape makes all of the difference when seeking a comfortably fitting bra. Look for options that have the band and shoulder width for your body shape (wider bands and straps tend to be more comfortable) that don’t ride up, constrict you or roll down throughout the day. The Knix WingWoman Contour Bra has a wide band that provides excellent coverage and support for your sides.
If you have particularly sensitive skin, a cotton or modal microfiber bra likely will be the most comfortable material choice.
