use old pillows to stuff them

use old pillows to stuff them if you have any. i'm not sure how much polyfill cost at the craft store but if you have old pillows lying around use them instead!

Christmas Tree Stand

For mounting a duct tape dress form, I can't encourage you enough to use a Christmas tree stand. They can be found for close to free at most thrift stores, or on clearance after the holidays. They can be detached from your duct tape dummy stand very easily, and are built to hold big heavy trees. So convenient and useful!

Don't Be Afraid to Yell at the Model!

Well, not yell, but I mean you really need to remind her to stand up straight and look ahead. Chances are you're making a dress or shirt for her, and if she doesn't put up with you and stand up straight, she'll be complaining after you've spent hours sewing for her and her clothes don't fit because she wanted to slouch which you made her duct tape dummy. Harsh, but true!!

Use Different Colored Tape

Since you need 3 layers of duct tape for the duct tape dress form, I found it easy to use three different kinds of duct tape to do the job. That way, I knew when I was done with one layer and ready for another. You don't have to buy the expensive colored tape for this, either. Different brands of duct tape come in different shades of gray, or even brown. It's still cheap, and makes the layers less confusing.
