What I Made
I have been recycling vintage lace tablecloths into tunic tops!
How I Made it
Fold the tablecloth in half widthwise, and lay your favourite top on top of the tablecloth. Cut around the original top, leaving about an inch for seams. Try the tablecloth top on a few times during the sewing process, and make neck hole, length and width adjustments as necessary.
Begin at the sleeve edge, and sew a continuous seam along the arm, and then down the side seam. Repeat for the other side.
Finish the neckline by either overlocking it, sewing lace around the neckline, or folding the hem over and finishing with a seam.
Tips and Tricks
- Use a favourite top as a basic pattern, lay it on top of the tablecloth and cut the shape out, allowing about an inch for seams.
