The Bottom Line
Pros
- This starter kit comes with 12 stencils with very versatile designs.
- The kit included a white base spray, great for dark colored fabrics.
- With pink, blue and purple paints, the starter kit appeals to both genders.
Cons
- Some of the word stencils were very hard to punch out.
- The paint sometimes came out globby instead of a smooth spray.
- Some cans had triggers that were difficult to hold down.
Description
- A trigger on one of the cans was difficult for my 7 year old daughter to hold down.
- I put a pink skull on a white sweater, and my daughter did a wonderful pink/purple/white effect with the Princess stencil.
- We also tried the sun stencil on my daughter's jeans. This turned out well with the basic white to lay down on dark fabrics.
Guide Review - Simply Spray Stencil Kit
That's why I was pleased to find that the Simply Spray Start Kit came with 12 stencils, all of which are designs that I would likely plaster on clothing. They are made of thin cardboard, however, so their potential for reuse is very limited. Also, there are only 9 stencil sheets, so I'm guessing that they are counting a couple stencils for the flowers & dragonfly, and three stencils for the 'angel', 'princess', 'sweetie' sheet.
Designs Include:
- Skull & Crossbones
- Flowers and a Dragonfly
- Chinese 'Love' Symbol
- Peace Sign
- Hearts
- Love
- Sun
- Tribal Dragon
- 'Angel' 'Princess' and 'Sweetie'
While using the paint, it became apparent that practicing is a good idea, but this seemed bothersome because I didn't want to waste the paint. After hosing down a few sheets of junk mail advertisements, I tried my hand at coating the stencil.
You need to be very fast when you are spraying it, because a second too long and you'll have a glob of paint you hadn't intended. If you are willing to horse around with mastering the flow of the paint, these stencils do come out well.
