Guide Review - D.I.Y. Girl Book Review
DIY Girl by Puffin Publishing is a recipe book for all sorts of DIY fun. The handmade projects center not only around fashion, but are divided into different departments such as home, fashion, and gifts. I really enjoyed the cute cartoon chicks that were dashed onto the pages. This really aids in the appeal to a younger audience. The fashion projects are all relatively simple, including a few that don't really need instructions for, but still give you a few ideas to add your own variations.
While the projects are not the most complicated, there are a few that older girls will enjoy, like the mutilated Barbie head and arm jewelry box. That's my kind of recycling. They show you crafting basics, like how to make soap and lip balm, which always make impressive and cheap gifts around the holidays.
I would recommend this book for someone who is new to crafting or who would like to introduce the joy of craftiness to a younger girl.
