You can add some instant pop to any piece of clothing by adding an interesting or kitschy patch to the mix. Adding a patch can take just a few minutes, or you can appliqué to create an original look.

Use fabric scraps to make your own patches rather than buying those cheesy embroidered patches at the craft store. Making your own patches from fabric is call 'appliqué' and it can allow you to create anything from Darth Vader helmets to unicorns.
