Hem the Raw Edges

Corset Top Instructions

Hem edges for a smooth look.

Rain Blanken
Zig-zag stitch all around the outside of your sewn panels. This is worth doing, because otherwise your raw edges will eventually unravel and leave your top looking frayed.

Now we will hem the edges. Fold in 1/2" along the top edge. You should be folding toward the wrong-side (unprinted side) of the fabric. Straight stitch all the way across. You can iron this hem first to help keep the edge straight as you sew.

Fold up a 1/2" along the bottom and straight stitch again. Repeat for the two sides. You should end up with a nice, neatly hemmed rectangle.

Next, we will add ribbon to the front.
