Pin in place and stitch on top.

Use straight pins to pin all around the shirt, front and back. Be sure you don't pin the front to the back. Don't skip this step. It's very important that you pin the shirt while you're sewing, or the whole thing can get bunched or slip from the right position.

Starting at one of the side seams, top stitch right along the shoulders and collars of the shirt, all the way around. Try to stay in the middle of the collars while stitching, and stay a 1/4" away from the edge on the shoulders.

Once you have a long tube, your shirt is starting to look more like a skirt. The last step is to easily add a drawstring.
