In our Duct Tape Dummy tutorial, we showed you the proper way to tape up a model for a duct tape dummy. Here, I'll show you how to properly mount a duct tape dummy to create a dress form. If you are looking for how to tape and stuff the dummy, go here.

Mounting the dummy gives you the advantage of having a form that is the height of your model. This way, you can make floor-length and knee-length dresses to the correct height.

  • What You'll Need
  • A plastic or wooden clothes hanger
  • duct tape
  • flat cardboard
  • Scissors [recommended scissors]
  • A large cardboard tube or PVC piping. You can get a large cardboard tube for free from a local printing company, or use a long shipping tube. PVC pipes can be bought for a few bucks at your local department store, and are harder to cut than the cardboard.

  • An old coat rack, Christmas tree stand, or office chair. Anything that will hold up your cardboard tube.

  • Marker or pen
  • Measuring tape
Once you have your materials, we can get started.
