Stare, Wear or Burn: Lena Dunham's Dress

In making our own styles, we draw from the inspiration around us. Whether it be glass bead earrings inspired by the ocean, or a slinky dress inspired by miss Lena Dunham at the 65th Annual Writers Guild East Coast Awards. It's time again to decide if you'd Stare, Wear, or Burn some celebrity style.

So, I've seen Lena Dunham naked so many times, it makes this Stare, Wear or Burn feel as awkward as the nudity in her HBO show, Girls. If you've seen the show, you know exactly what Lena is working with under this Reed Krakoff dress. After devoutly watching the show, I've inadvertently built up a cache of stark naked Lena visuals in my subconscious. Kind of like when someone says 'Manamana' and my brain goes '♫♪ Doo doooo doo dooo dooo... ♫ ♪'. In this case, it's 'picture of Lena Dunham' and brain retrieves, 'here she is naked, putting on her socks'.

I call this look 'Pebbles Flintstone chic'. Put a bone in her hair and she's ready for a night out on the town. That may have sounded harsh, but if I ever need a high-end cavewoman costume, I'm definitely going this direction. The short hair and the pattern of this dress are translating into a very sexy and fun look.

Here, Lena poses with Gina Gershon at the after party at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill. I wanted to include this photo, because it lets us get a bit away from the contrived backstage snaps, and picture how this would look in casual company. I think that here, the dress is working well to balance Lena's top deck with the rest of her figure.
