Rainbow Brite Costume Ideas

So why are Rainbow Brite costumes so popular with grown women? In the 80's, Rainbow Brite was a magical little girl living in a land chock full of friends... and the dolls were just out of my parent's price range, which made me want them even more. Like Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake, the Rainbow Brite marketing team had us in their sights from day one. Years later, I am still privy to rainbow-striped socks. Occasionally I wear them outside of the house. Under my pants. Who's to know?

Rainbow Brite is a natural Halloween costume choice if you're going cute. I'm not a huge fan of the 'sexy' Rainbow Brite costumes, considering she was a10 year old (that's 63% creepier than the sexy Girl Scout costume). But should you go the flirty route, here are your commercial choices, I've already found the cheapest price online for you.

Personally, I'd rather build my own. For a Rainbow Brite costume, all you really need is a lot of color. Striped rainbows, flowing rainbows... it doesn't matter as long as you've got good old Roy G. Biv in the mix. _{(photo: Pricegrabber)}

Okay, stay with me, here. I've asked Dame Edna to come by as a prime example of clown territory. The famous Dame was clearly not going for a Rainbow Brite look, and has kindly offered to show us what not to do. Avoid polka-dots and too much of any color but dark blue and white.
