Renaissance Gown and Men's Garb by Saretta

Follow me on:

900 hundred pearls, hand-sewn. Forget the incredible feathered fedora and gorgeous mocha skirt overlapped in dazzling blue. Forget the matching garb tailor-made for her husband. Nine. Hundred. Pearls. Hand. Sewn.

Oh yeah, and she makes a new gown every year. Are you kidding me? If I made this gown Gown, it would be my Gown for life. I'd come barging out of the sewing room like a surgeon who's been squinting over a body cavity all night. Sweat beading on my forehead, a crazed look in my eyes. My hair askew and scissors in hand, children scattering in all directions from the sight of me. "Never again", I'd hiss. 900 hand-sewn pearls would prove to be my undoing.

So, can I get an amen for Saretta and her incredible handiwork? And the fact that, in this photo, she's probably already plotting her next gown?

See more of Saretta's amazing renaissance gown and learn more about her journey to garb nobility. I bow to thee. I'm not worthy. I am pail. I am bucket.

LOL This was wonderful to read, Rain. Thank you for your kind words. I only make my dresses for myself and this one was my most ambitious yet. The one I am currently working on will be ready for next season. It usually takes me about a year from start to finish on one of these. And btw, the next one is burgundy velvet and gold taffeta with an ungodly amount (Looks like it’s going to be in the 1200+ range, GAH) of garnet beads that will be sewn (by hand again) in fleur de lis patterns all over the outer skirt. Happy sewing!
