The Cyclops Festival is coming again to Yellow Springs, Ohio, on September 15, 2012. This is a festival as unique as the town it takes place in, attracting an eclectic array of handmade 'goodies'. I wanted to say 'crafts', there, but the cupcake I tried last year was just too yummy to let me give all the credit to the crafts.
I chomped frosting around each booth at the Cyclops Festival last year, and each new artist was like a slap in the face of pure inspiration. I enjoy hitting up all kinds of festivals, but after a while the crafts can start to look the same (who needs that many painted wooden signs?? I'm looking at you, Troy Strawberry Festival!) This is certainly not the case at the Cyclops Festival. The record stopped skipping and the recycled, refreshed and totally new ideas just kept coming. No seriously, you're going to have to set a budget for this one, because everything is just so cute/awesome/weird.
Go get your homemade cupcake on as you get an eye-full of mind blowing original works by regional jewelry, clothing and visual artists. There is also lots of entertainment and good folks to talk to, so be sure to give all of this 'DIY wonderfulness' a peek on September 15th. The Cyclops Festival is new, but definitely one to keep your eye on as it gains in popularity each year. Is that enough eye puns, yet?
Be One with the Cyclops: If you think you've got the chops to join the Cyclops Festival of handmade music, goodies, culture and food, submit your vendor application to the folks at Cyclops. Better hurry, you've got until July 31st to send in your application.
