Who's birthday is on Thursday? Hint: He'll be 153 and he's still ticking. On May 31st, 1859, Big Ben went into operation in London. I'm not certain what to get a giant clock tower for his birthday, but these handmade Big Ben fanboy items should do the trick to let 'im know we appreciate his iconic face.
The closest I've ever come to visiting England was working at the local Renaissance Festival. So... not very close at all. Seriously, my fake British accent would probably get me beaten to death in the streets of London. 'ELLO GOVNAH!' *whack* With a cricket bat. By the Queen. No, wait, it's Ricky Gervais in drag. Bloody hell.
So Big Ben, to me, is still something of fantasy and wonder, like Cinderella's castle at Disney World. Peter Pan flew over Big Ben and Mary Poppins floated past via umbrella. Until I see him with my own eyeballs, I'm stuck in the un-reality of my own idea of what Big Ben is like.
