Devin and William Eliminated from Stylista

Wednesday November 12, 2008
This week on Stylista, Devin won the assistant challenge early on with some appropriate Slowey groveling. As a result, she got to choose teams for the elimination. The producers drooled like a pack of English bulldogs as Devin placed Kate on the same team with Megan and Ashley. Oh, let the cat fight begin.

Teams needed to put together a photo spread, having to create everything from the furniture to the positioning of the model during a photo shoot. Devin's made a lot of sense, getting along swimmingly as they chose white mannequins for their background. They were going for a non-conformist message for the layout, which may have been a little too deep of a concept for a fashion magazine. The team got along for the duration of the challenge, with a few typical meow-meow moments from DyShaun. Not a very interesting situation, so we'll move on.

Meanwhile, Kate and this damn TV had Megan up in arms. A trip to a vintage furniture store had Kate and Ashley inventing a retro theme for the shoot, and Danielle was in the background somewhere doing her best bobble head impression. What did Megan think of the concept? "You have a piece of clothing on this girl and you're going to put her in a living room set. Real creative." During the photo shoot, Megan left. At judgment time, Anne Slowey and Joe Zee liked the retro take. Megan backpedaled pathetically saying, "I never removed myself from this project, that is not true."

Later, Anne described the layout from Devin's team as "Soulless and a little flat." Devin's team ended up in Anne's office...and the two most quiet and sane people left the show. Devin and William didn't stand a chance against all those screeching nut bars.

For next week? Well, as Kate remarked during the photo shoot, "Megan has been a disaster, and the odds of Megan going home are very high."

Well, I started watching Stylista because Project Runway is no longer on, and it’s a sad substitute. While Project Runway focused on the challenges and the fashions, Stylista focuses on the backstage cat fights. It’s about jealousy and pettiness, not fashion. I watch it, but I’m not crazy about it. I mean - come on - they didn’t even show Devin’s winning outfit! Ann held up the blouse, but you can never tell what it looks like until you see it on a person or at least a mannaquin. And we have no idea what it looked like with the bottom and the accessories. But we did get to see Kate crying into the phone, which is the important part of the show.
