Stylista Kate and Cleavage

Wednesday October 22, 2008
stylista kate Tyra Banks' new production, Stylista, premiered on the CW tonight, and a pair of boobs debuted along with it. Sure to be a recurring theme throughout the show, self-proclaimed 'black sheep' Kate Gallagher was having quite a time trying to cover her breasts for the entire half hour.

When she first met the style editors, their initial biting comments to Kate were to be more conservative than the bustacular dress she presented herself in. This dress somehow had the same effect as a finely-strung corset. Back at the contestant penthouse, whining, tears, and borrowed outfits would prove that putting on a shirt was somehow a very laborious task for Kate. After many well-placed comments about not feeling like herself, Kate conceded. As a result, the staff chided Kate for not dressing like herself at the big reveal. Girl just can't win.

Personally, I think Kate looked absolutely fantastic in the pencil skirt dress that she wore at the top of the show. Yes, her breasticles were in full bloom, but it wasn't anything that a good wrap couldn't fix. My disappointment was in Kate's over-the-top self doubt that arose from simply having to wear a more conservative shirt to please the judges for a day. Is this really such a personal issue, or does Kate need to get some real problems so as not to whine over something so trivial? What does this girl do when she has to attend a job interview or a funeral?

Would you change your style even for a day to please others? Is this a very personal issue to you, or was it blown completely out of proportion?

I also think she looked fantastic, if not a bit “over the top” for a job interview. :)
The first outfit was sexy. Too sexy… for a style magazine interview?, I don’t really think so, no.
I also found it odd that after her mentors requested she change, they then proceeded to ask her why she did…. I say stick to her guns (OK, no more puns, sorry).

It seems to me that we all have to modify what we wear to adhere to courtesy and custom. The trick is sticking to your comfort zone and personal style while respecting the culture of a place or event.

It totally bums me out that reality TV can be all about cruelty and insults…hmmm…sound kind of like this election.

I thought she looked and acted completely unprofessional. She is a drama queen who sold the rest of the house out, particularly Johanna who was only trying to help her. I think it is her raging insecurity that causes her to be so upset about covering up her boob job.

I agree with Kerry. There’s room to express yourself in appropriate ways based on the reason for the event and the venue. I’m not talking about conformity, just good sense. I suspect that Kate will look back on her behavior, once she’s grown up, and groan. She looks like she tried to stuff herself into a child’s shirt.

Kate is smart. She wore that dress to get attention and it worked. If you notice her other clothes on the show were beautiful but conservative and sexy. Whatever her plan is she is in it for the tv and she’s winning major points. She’s there to entertain and she’s definitely doing her job.
