The Good, the Bad, and the Coffee Stains
So, like the rest of America, I'm completely addicted to coffee. As well as getting the shakes when I can't get a cup, those withdraw symptoms can bridge into headaches and body aches if I'm deprived. As I push 30, I'm also learning that all of those commercials for Rembrandt teeth whitener are talking to me. Coffee can stain your teeth very quickly, and there is no fashion asset more important than your pearly whites. That's why they don't call them your 'matte browns'. While you can get a whitening at the dentist, this is usually quite costly and reaps the same results as if you had been regularly whitening at home. There are now specialized products for home whitening, including stain toothpaste and 2 hour whitening treatments. Incidentally, teeth whitening products can also be used as an emergency stain remover on white clothing.
Taking care of your teeth with whitening products is always an option, but it is best to tone down the coffee consumption as a precaution. The staining power of coffee makes it an excellent clothing dye. This is great when you are trying to change up a pair of khaki's, but not so great when you are accident prone and sitting in a restaurant... like me. This shirt by StayVocal.com uses real coffee stains to print the shirt and get across a message about reusing and recycling. Just keep this look on your shirt, not your teeth.
