DIY Gone Wild: Saffron Finch's Ameoba
We've all got stories about our Grandma putting hours into some kind of hideous wonder that we kindly don every holiday when she's around to see it.
Well, stop whining, because this guy wins. Saffron Finch, a performer and general wandering weirdo at the Ohio Renaissance Festival sports this acid-laced Grandma creation with pride. The masochistic twist is that he actually found it at a thrift store in Toronto and immediately tried it on for size, hoping it would fit. I shared in his amazement that someone painstakingly made this thing by hand. It even has a zipper lovingly sewn in.
There was lots of speculation from patrons as to what the outfit was supposed to be. Perhaps Saffron could add antennae to create Plankton from Sponge Bob. I thought he looked like a giant pickle, but others argued for the side of parasite. Coincidentally (or perhaps not so coincidentally) Saffron also boasts the world record for the speed in which he can make a bologna sandwich with his feet. I'll let you think of your own toe jam pun for that one.
