Add a Pocket, Add Some Character
You can achieve an upscale style by using subdued patterns and ribbon trim. Hollister and Gap have recently breezed through the look of an added cargo pocket of a slightly different color than the pants. For this look, use high-quality quilting fabric found at your local craft store and be sure to use matching thread and small stitches.
Just for fun, go all-out with a character print. Recently I was able to find a variety of Hello Kitty, Elvis and Snoopy prints at my local fabric store. Buying enough fabric for one pocket is a matter of cents. Check the remnant bin for discounted left-over fabric that the store can’t sell in yards. Also, try hunting through your local thrift store for cheap pillow cases and sheets that you can butcher into all sorts of projects.
Use these simple step-by-step instructions to add your pocket.
